We started here because we got frustrated planning our own weddings. Both of us ended up in Google Sheets, both of us wished there was a tool that didn't make us choose between the spreadsheet we liked and the visual layout we needed. So we built it.
About Seat the Day
We built this because nearly every couple planning a wedding ends up in a spreadsheet, stuck, trying to move names around until everyone's happy. There had to be a better way.
The problem we saw
Seating charts are weirdly hard. You start with a Google Sheet because it's free and everyone knows it. But a spreadsheet is terrible at spatial reasoning. You can't see the room. You can't tell if your table of eight is balanced. You're mentally rendering a floor plan from a "Table" column while your mom is editing rows and your partner is dragging things around and suddenly nobody knows which version is current.
Then you find a seating chart tool. Some of them are beautiful, but they want you to abandon your spreadsheet and start over. Others have no way to sync back, so you end up with two sources of truth. None of them feel made for the actual problem: you and 140 people, a room that exists, and a Google Sheet you've been building for six months.
What we built
Seat the Day connects to the spreadsheet you already have. You don't leave it behind. The Google Sheet stays your source of truth — dietary needs, meal choices, plus-ones, all of it. We just give you a visual way to arrange the people in the sheet into the actual tables in your actual room.
Edit a row in Sheets? The chart updates. Move someone to a different table in our app? The sheet reflects it. No CSV exports, no re-uploading, no version confusion. One guest list, two ways to see it.

You're getting married once. You shouldn't need a demo call to understand a seating chart tool or sign up for a monthly subscription just to seat 140 people.
Meet people where they are
Your guest list lives in Google Sheets. We come to you instead of asking you to move everything into our system.
Solve the real problem
The hard part isn't dragging names around. It's knowing which people fit together, which combinations actually work, and whether your tables will feel balanced.
Respect your data
Your guest list is yours. We don't sell it, we don't store it permanently, and you can delete everything whenever you want.
Why we're building this
Wedding planning is already stressful. The seating chart shouldn't be. Too many couples spend weeks on this and still end up with a spreadsheet and screenshots and email chains. Too many planners start from scratch every time because no tool properly handles the work they actually do.
We're building Seat the Day to remove one piece of that stress. To make it obvious who sits where. To let you change your mind at 11pm without reprinting everything. To build something that couples actually want to use because it feels made for them, not for event companies running 40 weddings a year.
What's next
Right now we're in early access — building with real couples and refining based on what actually works. We're adding features as we learn what people need, but only features that make sense for someone planning one wedding, not tools that add complexity.
Long term, we want Seat the Day to be the obvious choice for anyone arranging seating, wedding or otherwise. For smaller events, for corporate dinners, for classrooms, for anywhere that seating actually matters.
